Thank you for using Athletes Connect (“the App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our services to find training partners and organize workouts.

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Information You Provide to Us

When you sign up for Athletes Connect, we collect the following personal information:

• Account Details: Email address, first and last name, date of birth, gender, and your selected avatar.
• Information from Third-Party Services (Google & Apple Sign-In): If you sign in using Google or Apple, we collect your name, email address, and a unique user ID provided by that service.
• Sports Preferences: The sports you participate in, your skill levels, and your primary training city.
• User-Generated Content: Details of the workouts you create, workouts you join, comments you post on workout discussions, and your meeting locations.

1.2. Location Information

Because Athletes Connect relies on connecting you with nearby athletes, we collect:

• Approximate Location: Your selected primary city to show you relevant local workouts.
• Precise Location (GPS): When you use the map feature to view or set workout meeting points, we may request access to your device's GPS location. You can disable this at any time in your device settings.

1.3. Information We Collect Automatically & Advertising Data

• Usage & Technical Data: We collect basic device information and crash reports using Firebase to help us diagnose issues and improve performance.
• Advertising Identifiers: To support the App and keep it free, we may display advertisements. We collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA for iOS, GAID for Android) to allow our advertising partners (such as Google AdMob) to serve ads that are more relevant to your interests.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

• To create and manage your account.
• To connect you with other athletes and display relevant local workouts.
• To enable in-app communication (comments on workouts).
• To send you push notifications (e.g., workout reminders).
• To serve personalized advertisements that keep the App free.
• To maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the App.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the following ways:

• With Other Users: When you join or create a workout, your name, avatar, and sports preferences will be visible to other participants. Comments you post are public to joined members.
• Service Providers: We use trusted third-party providers, specifically Google Firebase (for database, authentication, and crash reporting) and OpenStreetMap/Nominatim (for map rendering and geocoding).
• Advertising Partners: With your consent (where required), we share advertising identifiers with advertising networks to serve personalized ads.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

4. Data Storage and International Transfers

Your data is securely stored using Google Firebase, whose servers may be located outside of your country of residence (primarily in the United States or the European Union). By using the App, you consent to this data transfer.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You can completely delete your account and all associated personal data at any time directly within the App's Settings menu.

6. Your Choices

• Access and Update: You can update your profile via account settings.
• Advertising Consent: On iOS devices, we will request your explicit permission before tracking your data for personalized advertising via the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can manage your choices at any time through your device's privacy settings ("Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS or "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android).

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is restricted to users who are at least 16 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will immediately delete the account.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any material changes within the App.
